From London to Italy and across the United States, ICS and our chapters have enjoyed an exciting season of Churchill-related events, historic visits, scholarship, and new connections. As we look ahead to our annual conference in Philadelphia, we are delighted to share some recent highlights from our growing international community.
Boston: Churchill and Voicing Hard Truths
The Society’s academic community gathered in Boston in September for the annual International Churchill Society Academic Dinner, held in Boston Seaport.
The evening’s guest of honor and featured speaker was David Clinton, Professor Emeritus of Political Science at Baylor University, who presented “‘Look Every Man Straight in the Face’: Churchill and Voicing Hard Truths.” Professor Clinton’s distinguished academic career has focused on international relations, American foreign policy, ethics, and political thought, and he has presented research on Churchill at several previous academic conferences.
The dinner continued an important ICS tradition connected to the annual meeting of the American Political Science Association (APSA). For more than two decades, ICS has participated as an APSA-related group, supporting original scholarship and bringing together academics and Churchillians to examine Churchill’s political thought, leadership, and historical legacy.

Events such as the Boston gathering are an important part of the Society’s mission: creating opportunities not only to remember Churchill, but also to engage seriously with his ideas and introduce his life and work to new audiences.
Italy and London: Churchill Connections Across Borders
ICS Italia and ICS UK have been particularly active, demonstrating how international collaboration can bring members together through a shared interest in Churchill’s life and legacy.
This summer, members of our Italian chapter explored Churchill’s artistic achievements at the Wallace Collection. In addition, this month, ICS UK and the Italian chapter collaborated for the London launch of historian Anthony Tucker-Jones’s Winston Churchill: The Making of a Warlord. The illustrated biography traces Churchill’s journey from schoolboy and cavalry officer to war correspondent, politician, and wartime prime minister, drawing upon a rich collection of photographs and historical material. The event offered another opportunity for Churchill enthusiasts from different countries to come together around new scholarship and a shared interest in Churchill’s extraordinary life.
Finally, ICS Italia will gather in Milan and Lake Como, November 12–14, for its 2026 Annual Conference, “Churchill’s Women – Le donne dietro il mito” (“The Women Behind the Myth”). The program will celebrate the women who helped shape Churchill’s life and enduring legacy, with a focus on figures including Jennie Churchill, Katherine Carter, and Nicoletta Maggi.
The three-day gathering offers another opportunity for Churchillians to come together internationally, combining history, scholarship, and fellowship in two remarkable Italian settings.
Churchill Is Local
Whether it is a book discussion in London, an academic gathering in Boston, a visit to Chartwell, or a chapter event closer to home, some of the best ways to experience the International Churchill Society happen at the local level. These kind of visits reflect one of the most rewarding aspects of belonging to the International Churchill Society: the opportunity to discover historic places, meet fellow members, and build friendships that extend well beyond national borders.
We encourage members to connect with the ICS chapter in their area, attend an upcoming program, and introduce friends and colleagues to the Churchill community. And if there is not currently a chapter near you, consider helping us start one.
Churchill’s legacy is international, but keeping that legacy vibrant begins with people coming together in their own communities.
Want to become more involved in the Churchill community where you live? Connect with the ICS chapter in your area to learn about upcoming programs, gatherings, and opportunities to participate. And if there is not yet a chapter near you, consider starting one and helping bring Churchillians together in your own community.
Join ICS, stay connected, and be part of the ongoing work to preserve, interpret, and share Churchill’s legacy for a new generation.
