Stephen and Jane Poss Lead ICS into the Future with a New Multi-Year Donation

In an inspiring display of generosity and commitment to the mission of the International Churchill Society (ICS), Stephen and Jane Poss have made a new multi-year leadership pledge. This new donation, in celebration of 2024 as the 150th anniversary of the birth of Sir Winston Churchill, will immediately bolster three areas of paramount importance to the society: funding four additional years of the Stephen and Jane Poss Distinguished Churchill Lecture Series, supporting the society’s new partnership with the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) in London, and enhancing the society’s educational programs for younger generations.

The Posses previously donated to ICS in order to establish the Stephen and Jane Poss Distinguished Churchill Lecture Series, which has become a linchpin of the society’s annual international conferences. This new contribution will help solidify the Poss Distinguished Churchill Lecture as a prestigious honor and sought-after platform for historians, academics, politicians, and journalists. Past lecturers include historians Lord Roberts of Belgravia, author of Churchill: Walking With DestinyTim Bouverie, author of Appeasement: Chamberlain, Hitler, Churchill and the Road to War, and Capt. Jerry Hendrix (USN ret), author of To Provide and Maintain a Navy: Why Naval Primacy is America’s First Best Strategy.

“Jane and I have been very pleased with the establishment of the Distinguished Churchill Lecture Series and are thrilled to be able to assist up-and-coming historians,” said ICS Vice Chair Stephen Poss. “We are making these new donations because of our belief in the continuing and vital relevance of Winston Churchill’s life and legacy, the importance of preserving and teaching accurate history to younger generations, and our belief that the International Churchill Society can make a difference in a dangerous world. We hope that this will inspire others to donate to this important mission.”

“This gift, and the Stephen and Jane Poss Distinguished Churchill Lecture Series, is a testament to the power of philanthropy and intellectual curiosity,” said ICS Chairman Mitchell Reiss. “We are profoundly grateful to Steve and Jane for their leadership and unwavering commitment to advancing the ideals that Sir Winston held dear. All Churchillians are in their debt.”
