Andrew Roberts Announced as the Stephen and Jane Poss Distinguished Churchill Lecturer for 2024 Conference

The International Churchill Society (ICS) is proud to announce that award-winning historian Andrew Roberts (Lord Roberts of Belgravia) will return as this year’s Stephen and Jane Poss Distinguished Churchill Lecturer during the 2024 Churchill conference, which will take place in London on October 24–27. As explained by ICS Vice-Chair Stephen Poss, “Jane and I wanted to bring Andrew back for an encore performance due to the special celebration at this year’s Conference of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Sir Winston Churchill. There is no one better to place Churchill’s life and legacy at 150 in perspective.” Last year’s conference sold out in record time, and this year’s conference is expected to do the same. Access to Early Bird tickets will end at 11:00 pm ET on March 31. Purchase now to guarantee your participation. Find more information on the conference here.

Andrew Roberts is a Visiting Professor at the War Studies Department of King’s College, London, the Lehrman Institute Distinguished Lecturer at the New-York Historical Society, and author of thirteen books including Churchill: Walking with Destiny (2008), which has sold half a million copies in fourteen languages and has been described as the best single-volume life of Churchill ever written. Lord Roberts is a Trustee of ICS, the Margaret Thatcher Archive Trust, and the National Army Museum. He is also the Roger and Martha Mertz Visiting Research Fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University.

The historic Grosvenor House Hotel in Mayfair will host this year’s conference, which will begin with an evening reception at Dartmouth House, the home of the English-Speaking Union, on Thursday the 24th. Conference sessions will commence at Grosvenor House on the 25th, followed by a reception that evening at historic Lancaster House. The closing gala dinner will be held at the iconic National Gallery off Trafalgar Square. Conference events will also take place at the Royal United Services Institute in Whitehall.

Further details and updates about the conference will be posted here and on the ICS website during the coming months.
