The new fund, named for Sir Winston Churchill’s great-granddaughter, is now available to support projects by researchers and students.

Allen Packwood, the Director of the Churchill Archives Centre at Churchill College, Cambridge, announced the creation of a new fund to support broader public access to the Churchill Papers and related vast collections at the Archives Centre at Cambridge University.

Created through the immense generosity of Mr Laurence Geller CBE and the International Churchill Society, and with the patronage of Jennie Churchill, great-granddaughter of Sir Winston, this fund exists to support any archival, educational or research work undertaken on the papers of Sir Winston Churchill and other related collections of the Churchill era.

Speaking on the new Fund, Jennie Churchill commented:

“I am deeply honoured to have my name associated with this new fund and look forward to hearing about the many exciting projects that it will make possible. I know it will mean that we can do more in terms of actively encouraging and supporting projects based on the Churchill collection, and I am thrilled that the College is today announcing several new initiatives to kick start this process.”

The Fund is the brainchild of Laurence Geller CBE, Chairman of the International Churchill Society, who said:

“The International Churchill Society exists to promote interest in the life and legacy of Sir Winston Churchill. We have a vested interest in ensuring that the Churchill Archives reach the widest possible audience and that Churchill continues to inform education, scholarship and debate. I want the fund to send a strong signal that Churchill is relevant to the next generation.”
