The Royal Mint pay tribute in 2015 to the man who has become an icon; Churchill is now the first statesman ever to be commemorated twice on Britain’s coins.

The 50th Anniversary of the Death of Sir Winston Churchill 2015 UK £5 Brilliant Uncirculated – launching 3 November 2014

This Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) £5 coin is a classic in the making. Churchill is instantly recognisable, though his portrait exceeds the boundaries of the coin; the man was larger than life, impossible to capture in the usual confines of coin design. (‘Brilliant Uncirculated’ means a coin which hasn’t been in circulation and is therefore in mint condition but struck to the same standard as a circulating coin.)

The 50th Anniversary of the Death of Sir Winston Churchill 2015 UK £5 Two-Coin Set – launching 3 November 2014

The first statesman ever to be commemorated twice on Britain’s coins, both Churchill coins are now brought together in this specially commissioned set. The set pairs the new Brilliant Uncirculated £5 coin, with the original, beautiful memorial crown, issued in 1965.
