ICS 2026 International Churchill Conference – Churchill & America during America’s 250th!

The International Churchill Society is honored to announce that Dr. Larry P. Arnn, President of Hillsdale College, will join us as a keynote speaker for the 2026 International Churchill Conference in Philadelphia. He will appear in conversation with nationally syndicated radio host, commentator, and author Hugh Hewitt, in what promises to be one of the conference’s standout featured sessions.

Dr. Arnn’s connection to Churchill scholarship is both direct and distinguished. He studied under Sir Martin Gilbert, Churchill’s official biographer, and later worked as Sir Martin’s research assistant on the official biography. That scholarly connection makes his participation especially meaningful for the International Churchill Society and for all those interested in the enduring significance of Churchill’s example.

At Hillsdale, Dr. Arnn has also helped sustain one of the most important institutional homes for Churchill scholarship in the United States. The Churchill Project at Hillsdale College, which came under his direction in 2012, has continued the publication and preservation of the official biography and document series, including reprinting and keeping in print the major volumes of that work. Richard Langworth also served as a senior fellow of Hillsdale College’s Churchill Project, further underscoring the strength of that connection.

Dr. Arnn is widely respected for his work on history, leadership, and the ideas that shape public life. His perspective on Churchill reflects a deep engagement not only with the man himself, but with the larger questions Churchill’s life continues to raise in public life and historical study.

We are especially pleased that this keynote will take the form of a conversation with Hugh Hewitt, whose longstanding interest in history, public affairs, and Churchill will make for a lively and thoughtful exchange. Together, they will bring insight, depth, and contemporary relevance to one of the most important themes of this year’s gathering.
