Admiral James Stavridis Delivers 2024 Enid and R. Crosby Kemper Lecture at America’s National Churchill Museum

On March 23rd, America’s National Churchill Museum (ANCM) held its annual Churchill Fellows Weekend on the campus of Westminster College in Fulton, MO, where Winston Churchill delivered his famous “Iron Curtain” speech in 1946. The centerpiece of the program is the Enid and R. Crosby Kemper Lecture, which this year was delivered by former NATO Supreme Commander Admiral James Stavridis USN (ret.), who spoke about the present challenges facing the world and how Churchill might have addressed them. Prior to the Admiral’s speech, ANCM welcomed eight new inductees into the Association of Churchill Fellows, which is an honorary society recognizing leaders in industry, commerce, statecraft, and in the arts and sciences that is among the key organizations that support ANCM, the only museum in North America that commemorates the life and times of former British Prime Minister Winston S. Churchill and his legacy of leadership.

In addition to Admiral Stavridis himself, the newest members of the Association of Churchill Fellows include Roger B. Porter, Alexandra Lindemann Roedy, Stephen D. Poss, William Reller, James H. Hance, Matthew W. Geekie, and Catherine Grace Katz.

“Winston Churchill’s extraordinary ability to forge coalitions and alliances to defend democratic ideals was one of his greatest strengths. In that respect, the lessons of the past are vitally important given the challenges of today,” said Timothy Riley, the Sandra L. and Monroe E. Trout Director and Chief Curator at ANCM. “We welcome these accomplished leaders into the Association of Churchill Fellows and honor their commitment to Churchill’s lasting legacy.”
