22-25 June 2009 – Centre for Contemporary British History

Summer Conference 2009

The Centre for Contemporary British History at the Institute of Historical Research, University of London will hold a comprehensive summer conference, “Britain and the Cold War,” at the Institute of Historical Research, Senate House, University of London.

Among the presenters are notable scholars familiar to Churchillians: Lord Hurd in conversation with Professor David Reynolds on “the Formulation of British Policy during the end of the Cold War” on June 22nd; Professor Antoine Capet (University of Rouen) on “‘The foul baboonery of Bolshevism’ as fought by Churchill, 1917-41″‘ and Dr Antony Best (London School of Economics on “Britain and the Soviet menace in East Asia, 1923-38.” Professor Capet also chaired a session on “The legacy of 1945: How the End of World War II determined British policy in the Cold War.” We hope for a longer report on this most interesting symposium.
