Inspire Like Churchill – ICS Video Project Overview

Inspire Like Churchill April 2020

“You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word: It is victory, victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory, however long and hard the road may be; …”

Winston Churchill, 13 May 1940, House of Commons

Eighty years ago, in the summer of 1940, Winston Churchill rallied the British people and the world against the forces of tyranny. At the height of the Battle of Britain, Churchill said of the aircrew defending the nation, “Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few.” The same can be said today for our medical professionals and essential workers on the frontline of the pandemic.

The International Churchill Society (ICS) is creating an inspirational video short Inspire Like Churchill of multiple contemporary figures and young adults reading lines from a selection of Winston Churchill’s famous speeches. Footage will be captured on an iPhone or other mobile device rather than using a professional film crew to give a more personal feel to the final edit, and comply with social distancing requirements. The video will display a sense of hope, history and nostalgia, demonstrating why the qualities that he embodied continue to be relevant today.

Participant How-to Guide for Winston Churchill Speeches Video

Thank you for agreeing to participate in the Inspire Like Churchill video that the International Churchill Society is creating. Please use the steps in this how-to guide to create and submit your portion of the video.

For an overview of this project, please visit this page. Please note that participation in this project is by invitation.

What We Need

We would like to ask that you create a short video recording your reading the lines of Winston Churchill’s speeches that we have provided to you. We are not expecting this to be the quality of a professional shoot, but rather it is going to give it a more personal feel to have multiple individual videos edited together.

Script

We will be providing you with a script of several lines of some of Winston Churchill’s most recognisable speeches. We are not looking for your best Churchill impression, but rather reading the lines with the appropriate gravity of the theme of the speech.
