Schedule Released for Edinburgh Conference

The schedule has now been set for this year’s International Churchill Conference, which takes place October 5–7 in Edinburgh, Scotland. Events include a Pol Roger Welcome Reception aboard the Royal Yacht Britannia, speaker presentations at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre, and a black-tie gala dinner addressed by Sir Winston Churchill’s grandson the Rt. Our world-leading commentators will include Sir David Cannadine: author and historian, Kate Clements: Curator at the IWM’s Churchill War Rooms, James Holland: author and broadcaster specialising in the history of WWII, Andrew Liddle: acclaimed writer, historian and author of Cheers, Mr Churchill!, Allen Packwood: Director of the Churchill Archives Centre and author of two books on Churchill, Rear Admiral Chris Parry: strategic forecaster, broadcaster and best-selling author, Sonia Purnell: writer, journalist and author of Clementine: The Life of Mrs. Winston Churchill.

The 2023 Stephen and Jane Poss Distinguished Churchill Lecture will be delivered by Dr Henry J. Hendrix PhD: retired US Navy Captain and naval flight officer, author of numerous professional articles and essays and author of Theodore Roosevelt’s Naval Diplomacy and To Provide and Maintain a Navy – Why Naval Primacy is America’s First, Best Strategy. He currently serves the Sagamore Institute as a senior fellow, exploring the national security challenges facing the United States.

As part of our experience at the venue, there will be a private lunch and book signing.

Edinburgh Castle is one of the most exciting historic sites in Western Europe and we have exclusive access to the castle for a reception in the ancient Queen Anne Building. As part of the evening’s entertainment, guests will enjoy being piped to the castle and a private performance of Beat The Retreat.

Scone Palace is home to the Earls of Mansfield. The original home of the Stone of Destiny – which was recently loaned for the coronation of King Charles III – guests visiting the Palace will experience a private tour and enjoy lunch in the Long Gallery.

A number of tours and places of interest to visit will be suggested to delegates who are not visiting Scone Palace.

Black-Tie Gala Dinner

Our Black-Tie Dinner will begin with a reception followed by dinner in the Edinburgh Suite. We are delighted that Sir Winston’s Grandson will be our keynote speaker for the evening. Lord Soames is the eldest child of Christopher Soames and Mary Churchill, the youngest daughter of Sir Winston and Clementine Churchill. He was commissioned into the 11th Hussars and subsequently served as Equerry to HRH The Prince of Wales, now King Charles III.
