The stern and determined looking face of Winston Churchill was modeled by the Avon Company in 1941. Not to be confused with the cosmetic company, Avon was a major porcelain manufacturer that produced toby mugs and jugs that are popular amongst collectors and known as Avon ware.

This mug stands five inches tall and is stamped “Avon” and “England” on the base. The modeler gave Churchill an unusually large cigar and also the badged cap of an Admiral of the Royal Navy. The handle in the back simulates a rope to continue the nautical theme.
