While touring North America in connection with the publication of his new best-selling biography Churchill: Walking with Destiny, Andrew Roberts stopped at the historic Los Angeles Athletic Club to answer a few questions about what he learned during his research on Churchill and to confess that he is himself a “clubaholic.”

Roberts visited Los Angeles on November 30th, Winston Churchill’s 144th birthday, to speak to the Southern California chapter of the International Churchill Society. The sold-out gathering enjoyed a dinner that naturally included Pol Roger champagne. Between speaking and book signing, Roberts discussed his love of clubs, Churchill’s friendship with LA Athletic Club member Charlie Chaplain, and what drove him to write not only a major biography of Churchill but also to write a concluding volume to Churchill’s own History of the English-Speaking Peoples.
