Save the Date! 2018 Churchill Conference will be Nov. 9–11

The 35th International Churchill Conference will take place this November in historic Williamsburg, Virginia. The conference will begin on Friday, November 9th and continue through the morning of Sunday the 11th at the Williamsburg Lodge. The final day will mark the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Armistice agreement that brought to an end the First World War. Read More >

Churchill and Charlie Chaplin Video Record of Churchill's Visit to Hollywood

In September 1929, Winston Churchill made his one and only visit to Los Angeles as part of a grand tour of North America in the company of his son Randolph, brother Jack, and nephew Johnnie. His visit coincided with the period when the motion picture industry was making the transition from silent film to “talkies.” On the 24th, Charlie Chaplin hosted the Churchills at his Hollywood studio located on the corner of Sunset Boulevard and La Brea Avenue. Darkest Hour’s “Icelandic” Soundtrack Churchill’s Spirit Captured by Icelandic Pianist

Churchill made only one visit to Iceland, in August 1941, on his way back to England after his first wartime meeting with President Roosevelt. That visit was celebrated with an article in Finest Hour 173. But despite the visit being short and singular, it has left its mark. Today there is in Iceland a vibrant community of Churchillians who several years ago organized themselves into a local affiliate of the International Churchill Society. Even the President of Iceland, as a fan and a historian, has lectured locally on Churchill on two occasions prior to taking office in 2016. Read More >

No Bull Churchill’s Food Forecast Proving True

A new book by Paul Shapiro called Clean Meat shows that a prediction made eight decades ago by Winston Churchill about the future of food production is now coming true. In his 1931 essay “Fifty Years Hence,” Churchill ventured the possibility of synthetic meat. While his timing may have been slightly off, the substance of his prophecy is no longer fantasy. Churchill in Palm Beach Successful Fundraiser for ICS & NCM

On 8 January, more than 100 guests gathered at the renowned Breakers Resort in Palm Beach, Florida for a reception and dinner hosted by the International Churchill Society (ICS) in honor of “A Man for All Seasons: The Art of Winston Churchill,” a superb exhibition of Churchill paintings, documents, and artifacts at the nearby Society of the Four Arts.
