New contemporary design is a hit with visitors and members alike

churchill at his deskIt is a rare day that The Churchill Centre does not receive an inquiry from a scholar, student or researcher requesting in-depth information on the life of Sir Winston Churchill.

Churchill himself never received a university education and felt this put him at a disadvantage. In October 1950 at Copenhagen University, he said, “I never had the advantage of a university education. But it is a great privilege and the more widely extended, the better for any country. It should not be looked upon as something to end with youth but as a key to open many doors of thought and knowledge. A university education ought to be a guide to the reading of a lifetime.”

The Churchill Centre’s website has become a definitive source for accurate information about Winston Churchill’s life for our one and half million annual visitors. If you have visited our website recently, you will have noticed that we have an exciting new design. The aim of the design was to modernise and simplify in order to aid visitors in quickly finding sought-after information. Perhaps you will even find yourself browsing compelling information that you might not have known existed.

In addition to updating the design of the website, we have added a new feature to our homepage. The new Churchill Timeline includes more than 500 events that took place over the course of Churchill’s ninety-year life. Upon visiting the site, you can easily browse across the decades for a look at all of these significant events.

A university education ought to be a guide to the reading of a lifetime.

In addition, we are busily working to get the entire archive of Finest Hour articles online. (The most recent four issues will be available to members only, so please consider joining. We have made it even easier to join or renew your membership online.) The Finest Hour archive is a treasure-trove of articles from 166 issues of the journal stretching back over forty years.

We hope that you will find the site useful and informative and continue to use it to discover the fascinating life of Winston Churchill. Comments and suggestions on how we can further improve are always welcome.
