“The Art of Diplomacy” To Feature Over 30 Works from Private and Public Collections
More than 30 paintings by Sir Winston Churchill, many of which have never appeared in public, will be on display in a historic exhibition, “The Art of Diplomacy: Winston Churchill and the Pursuit of Painting” at the Millennium Gate Museum in Atlanta from October 3, 2014 to February 1, 2015. The landmark exhibition is being presented by Atlanta resident and Churchill great-grandchild Duncan Sandys in collaboration with Millennium Gate founder Rodney Mims Cook, Jr. and Curator Josephine E. Cook. Many of the works, as well as other never-before-exhibited Churchill memorabilia including photographs, letters, films, and personal belongings, are being lent by Sandys and other members of the Churchill family from their private collections. Commemorating the life of our late Patron, The Lady Soames LG DBE, the first-ever special edition of Finest Hour will be published next month. Mary, the last surviving child of Winston Churchill, touched many lives and witnessed much history firsthand before she passed away at the age of 91 on May 31st. Ronald Keaton in CHURCHILL Photo: Chicago Sun-Times The one-man teleplay starring Robert Hardy originally produced in the United States in 1986 by PBS has been revised and brought to the live stage by veteran Chicago actor Ronald Keaton. The play opened to enthusiastic reviews at the Greenhouse Theater in Chicago on August 4th and will run through September 14th. This is a “memory play” that uses as its setting a fictional talk about his life that Churchill gives to an American audience not long after the end of the Second World War. Read More >
Distinguished 2002 Vintage Is Latest Tribute to Sir Winston Venerable French Champagne house Pol Roger recently released the highly-anticipated 2002 vintage of their legendary Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill. Pol Roger describes this cuvée as robust and mature, much like the man himself, and notes it is modeled after their 1928 vintage, Churchill’s personal favorite that he purchased annually by the case. Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill has been Pol Roger’s prestige label for several decades. Released for the first time in 1975, this cuvée has produced 13 more vintages since that time. Read More >
Churchill Archives Director Allen Packwood Writes on Jackie Kennedy & Winston Churchill
Churchill Archives Director Allen Packwood is the author of “The Lion and the Lioness”, a chapter in the recently published new edition of What Jackie Taught Us by Churchill Centre Trustee and writer/businesswoman Tina Santi Flaherty. The new edition commemorates the 20th anniversary of Mrs. Kennedy’s death in 1994.
Originally published in 2004, this expanded edition includes a new introduction by journalist Liz Smith and contributions by writers such as A. E. Hotchner, Malachy Court, Lynne Olson and Andrew Roberts as well as the full text of Sen. Edward Kennedy’s eulogy for his sister-in-law. Read More >

Trinity House Assessed Prime Minister One Shilling
When Churchill and his First Lord of the Admiralty A.V. Alexander together visited Trinity House on 7 January 1941, the Prime Minister could not resist lighting up one of his ubiquitous cigars. Result: Churchill, who was sworn an Elder Brother of Trinity House when he himself was First Lord in 1913, was fined twelve pence for violating a by-law laid down in 1660. However, being short of ready cash, Churchill turned to Alexander to supply him the necessary shilling. Read More >
