Celebrated author and speaker Celia Sandys has led several tours following in the footsteps of her grandfather Winston Churchill. This past month, she informed the Chartwell Bulletin about her latest plans for adventure:

“Over the past years many people have expressed interest in a Cuban tour, but I was not confident that I could find a local expert with sufficient knowledge of the Churchill story. Recently, though, I met Hal Klepak, a Canadian who lives between Ottawa and Cuba. Hal is writing a book on Churchill and Cuba and agreed to join me to guide a tour “Chasing Churchill in Cuba”.
“I have decided that the best and most comfortable way to do this is by sea. Jeremy Scott, who has arranged my last two tours, has found a wonderful sailing ship the sc Panorama, a three-masted sail cruiser which can accommodate up 49 passengers in 25 cabins. The date is set for next February. Starting in Havana we venture to Cienfuegos, Trinidad, Santa Clara, take a train from Tunas de Zaza to Sancti Spiritus and visit La Reforma and Arroyo Blanco.”

“To secure the ship, however, we need to pay a deposit very soon so it is important to know that those who have previously expressed interest are serious contenders as well as those who are hearing about it for the first time. Anyone who is interested please let me know as soon as possible as it will be a case of first come first served.”
