Chartwell Curator Katherine Carter discusses her new outdoor exhibition that celebrates the special relationship between Queen Elizabeth II and Sir Winston Churchill. Churchill and the Crown tells the story of the special relationship between the Queen and Sir Winston Churchill, through hand-selected archive images from TopFoto.
In a speech ahead of her coronation, Churchill referred to the Queen as ‘a Lady whom we respect because she is our Queen and whom we love because she is herself’.
Churchill became the Queen’s trusted advisor in the early years of her reign. In her Platinum Jubilee year, the exhibition celebrates this close and remarkable friendship.
The exhibition is currently on display at Chartwell, Churchill’s family home in Kent, until Saturday, February 27th.
Online attendance is free. Registration is required.
