Here you can see Churchill and Eden, then secretary of State for War, witnessing the signing of the Soviet-Polish Pact in London. By signing this agreement, Stalin declared all previous pacts the Soviet Union had with Nazi Germanynull and void, invalidating the September 1939 Soviet-German partition of Poland and releasing tens of thousands of Polish prisoners-of-war held in Soviet camps. It also meant he was siding with the Allies against Germany.
