In 1906 Finland became the second country in the world to grant the vote to all men and women.

Italy introduced the vote for all males aged thirty and older in 1912. This was expanded in 1918 to include all male citizens over the age of twenty one. In 1931 Spain gave women the vote; however it was heavily opposed by two female MPs Margarita Nelken and Victoria Kent who thought that women lacked the social and political education at that time to vote responsibly.
