On the 18 June, 1963 at Wembley Stadium, before a crowd of 35,000, two boxing legends met in a dramatic fight which would help catapult Muhammad Ali, then Cassius Clay, towards becoming the Heavyweight Champion. Before the fight Clay had questioned Cooper’s worthiness as an opponent but in the early rounds it was Cooper who dominated and knocked Clay down in the fourth with his trademark left hook, known as ‘‘Enry’s Ammer’. However Clay fought back and a bloodied Cooper was defeated in the Fifth.
