As Director of Buildings and Grounds for Westminster College, the late Earl O’Rourke supervised a large part of the massive rebuilding project of St. Mary the Virgin, Aldermanbury, after the stones were shipped from London to Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri. Earl carried out many of the tasks needed to prepare the campus site and ultimately build the Winston Churchill Memorial and Library. He hand-delivered a scale model of the historic church for the groundbreaking ceremony with President Harry S. Truman on 19 April 1964. Earl and his wife Patricia were founding members of the Friends of America’s National Churchill Museum and among the longest-serving members of that group, renewing their membership annually for more than forty years. As America’s National Churchill Museum at Westminster College continues its campaign to preserve the historic church designed by Sir Christophe Wren, we are grateful for Earl O’Rourke’s lasting legacy and lifetime of support.
