America’s National Churchill Museum (ANCM) has announced that retired US Navy Admiral James Stavridis will deliver the 2024 Enid and R. Crosby Kemper Lecture during the annual Churchill Fellows Weekend at Westminster College in Fulton, MO. The dates for this year’s events will be 22–24 March. For details, please CLICK HERE.
In an age when communication is instantaneous, diffused, and received with diminished discernment, how secure is the safety and welcome of those who value freedom and democracy? These are the issues that Adm. Stavridis will explore at the venue where Winston Churchill made his famous Iron Curtain speech in 1946. The stakes are high as disinformation campaigns, cyberattacks, terrorism, and armed conflict in Ukraine and Gaza pose new and grave threats.
Stavridis attended the US Naval Academy at Annapolis and spent more than thirty five years in the Navy, rising to the rank of 4-star Admiral. Among his many commands were four years as the 16th Supreme Allied Commander of NATO. Stavirdis now seres as Vice Chair, Global Affairs, for the Carlyle Group and Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Rockefeller Foundation
“We are excited to have such an esteemed authority on international security deliver the 2024 Kemper Lecture,” said Timothy Riley, the Sandra L. and Monroe E. Trout Director and Chief Curator of ANCM. “Like Churchill, Admiral Stavridis is respected across the political spectrum and around the world for his knowledge of what is necessary to preserve freedom and his determination to defend it.”
