After serving for a year as the editor of the Chartwell Bulletin, Churchill scholar David Freeman has now been appointed Associate Editor of Finest Hour, the flagship quarterly publication of The Churchill Centre and the leading international journal in the field of Churchill studies. Announcement of the appointment, which is effective this month, was made by Richard Langworth CBE, the long-time Editor of FH, and Lee Pollock, Executive Director of the Centre.

In his new role Prof. Freeman, who teaches history at California State University, Fullerton, will collaborate with and support Richard Langworth in the editing and publication of Finest Hour. Over time he will start to participate in commissioning and reviewing articles, working with existing and new contributors and helping to determine overall content and editorial direction. Prof. Freeman will continue as Editor of Chartwell Bulletin, the Centre’s monthly online Newsletter of Winston Churchill which has a circulation of over 20,000.

Announcing the appointment, Richard Langworth noted, “I have long respected David as a preeminent Churchill scholar who brings the right combination of intellect and humor to the subject, and am proud to have him on the masthead as Associate Editor. What’s more he’s a fine speaker, popular with students.” Lee Pollock added on behalf of The Churchill Centre, “We are very pleased to add Prof. Freeman to the outstanding team that has long made Finest Hour the preeminent publication in its field. Richard Langworth has been an exemplary steward of this treasured resource which is justly popular with Churchillians around the world. The addition of David Freeman will strengthen it even further and help ensure that Finest Hour will continue to be published and cherished for many years to come.”
