Re-titled A CHURCHILL DYNASTY, it is the first ever study of the Churchills as a family and was commissioned by the late Mrs Peregrine Spencer Churchill (Yvonne), daughter-in-law to the late Major John and Lady Gwendeline Spencer Churchill, and niece to the late Sir Winston S. Churchill.

The story begins with Lord Randolph Spencer Churchill, younger son of the 7th Duke and Duchess of Marlborough, Blenheim Palace. Lord Randolph married outside of his own social class, an American, Miss Jennie Jerome, the daughter of a New York stockbroker.

Having been educated at England’s finest, Eton Public School, and taken a Law degree at the University of Oxford, Lord Randolph, at the time of his marriage, had been newly elected Conservative Member of Parliament for Woodstock, Oxfordshire. Jennie was a great beauty with dark hair, large, magnetic, royal blue eyes, and a peaches and cream complexion. She was well educated, being fluent in French and spoke German, and was a fine classical pianist. But what the young couple really had in common was that they both rode like the wind and loved horses and hunting.

Jennie bore two sons; Winston Leonard, born at Blenheim Palace on 30th November 1874, and John Strange (Jack), born in Dublin on 4th February 1880.

Winston was not very successful at school because he would not get down to his studies and had difficulty passing examinations. Jack was the opposite, highly academic, frequently top of his class, and never failed an examination in his life. Celia Lee spent five years studying Yvonne Spencer Churchill’s papers which consisted: all of Lord Randolph’s, Jennie’s, and Jack’s, (both public and private), and it was due to this first ever thorough study that the true story of the Churchill family, which is now looked upon as a dynasty, really emerged.

Winston’s eventual rise as a politician to hold various cabinet posts in the British Government was much more of a family effort but Winston never gave his parents or his brother Jack any acknowledgement in his written works for the efforts they put in to futher and ensure his success. Despite his cleverness and academic prowess, Jack was sent by his mother to work in the city as a clerk to the stockbroker Ernest Cassell, who later become famously known as ‘the King’s banker’ (meaning financial to King Edward VII). When he became a fully fledged stockbroker Jack invested the Churchill family’s money wisely and took care of most of their affairs, both financial and legal.

A Churchill Dynasty is a study of the Churchill family from the earliest days of the brothers Winston and Jack, through their inter-relationship with their parents, and the efforts of their highly politicised American mother who furthered Winston’s career. Whilst Jack would live comfortably with his family, Winston would eventually rise to world fame as a war-time leader and world leader.

A könyv magyar címe a Churchill-dinasztia. Ez az első tanulmány, amely a Churchilleket mint családot mutatja be. Mrs. Peregrine Spencer Churchill (Yvonne) megbízásából készült, aki a néhai John és Lady Gwendeline Spencer Churchill menye, és a néhai Winston Churchill unokahúga volt.

A történet Lord Randolph Spencer Churchill-lel kezdődik, aki Marlborough 7. hercege és hercegnéje ifjabb fia volt. Lord Randolph társadalmi körein kívül keresett feleséget magának, egy New York-i tőzsdés leányát, Miss Jennie Jerome-t vette nőül.

Lord Randolph Anglia legjobb középiskolájába, Etonba járt, jogi diplomát szerzett az oxfordi egyetemen, és házassága időpontjában már a konzervatív párt parlamenti képviselője volt Woodstockban (Oxfordshire). Jennie csodaszép nő volt, sötét haja, hatalmas vonzó kék szeme, barack- és krémszín bőre volt. Jó nevelésben részesült, folyékonyan beszélt franciául, németül is tudott. Jennie két fiút szült. Winston Leonard a Blenheim Palotában született, 1874. november 30-án. John Strange (Jack) Dublinban született, 1880. február 4-én.

Winston nem volt sikeres az iskolai évek alatt, mert nem szeretett tanulni, nehezen tette le a vizsgáit. Ezzel szemben Jack kiválóan teljesített az iskolában, gyakran volt osztályelső, és sohasem bukott meg egyetlen vizsgáján sem. Celia Lee öt esztendőt töltött Yvonne Spencer Churchill iratainak a tanulmányozásával, amelyek között ott voltak Lord Randolph, Jennie és Jack hivatalos és magániratai. Ezeknek az eddig példátlan, alapos tanulmányoknak köszönhetően bontakozott ki a ma már dinasztiának tekintett Churchill család igazi története.

Winston felívelő politikus pályája, aki több alkalommal a brit kormány tagja is volt, sokat köszönhetett a családi erőfeszítéseknek, de Winston írott műveiben sohasem ismerte el sem szülei, sem Jack öccse erőfeszítéseit, amelyeket pályája előmozdításáért, sikerei biztosításáért tettek. Jacket okossága és kiváló tanulmányai eredményei ellenére az anyja a Citybe küldte, hogy Ernest Cassell tőzsdés mellett tisztviselőként dolgozzon.
