Ms. Flaherty’s apartment offers some of the grandest views of the Manhattan skyline, and with weather behaving perfectly, many took advantage of the outdoor decks and sampled the Davidoff Churchill Collection Cigars.

Jack Churchill spoke not only of Sir Winston’s love of New York—but of his own fond memories in Manhattan acquired as a young intern while at Sotheby’s shortly after his completing University. Mr. Churchill reaffirmed the Churchill family’s support for polo as a logical and long term vehicle to amplify the Churchill Centre message and to use as a tool for fundraising efforts both regionally and nationally. Churchill thanked Event Director Randall Baker and the many who work in memory of his great grandfather in their generous have generously supported the Polo Cup. It should be noted that Mr Baker mentioned that a second Polo event ‘The Winston S Churchill Courage Cup’ will be taking place in the San Francisco Bay area on Oct 7th and 8th. More information on this event in a separate article soon.

Finally, Mr Churchill wanted to thank those who are providing the lifeblood of financial support in the many other Churchillian endeavors emanating from the New York region, specifically two recent and separate donations made by Ms Tina Flaherty , to underwrite the following :

  • The JP Morgan Library exhibition: ‘Churchill – The Power of Words’ May 2012 Thru mid Sept 2012
  • The Hunter College: ‘ Winston S. Churchill lecture series ‘ sponsoring acclaimed guest authors 2012-2014

The traditional toast to ‘Sir Winston Churchill’ was prepared and delivered by Ms Flaherty.
