Tuesday, 22nd March 2011 – 7.00pm
Location: Churchill War Rooms
The popular image of Churchill in relation to Empire is of an undisputed imperialist, utterly opposed to colonial freedom. In this lecture, Richard Toye unravels a far more complex picture of Churchill’s relationship with the British Empire, spanning from his school days right through to his final premierships in the 1950s.
Richard Toye is Associate Professor at the University of Exeter.
The Churchill Lecture Series is sponsored by Military History.
