It’s reassuring to know that even the greatest orators haven’t always found it easy. Today, young people can learn from Churchill’s determination to master the skill of public speaking. Google launched its Nexus 7 tablet in the UK in 2013, with a little help from Churchill. Their TV advert, first shown in the UK to audiences of nearly ten million, tells the story of a young man who overcomes his fear of public speaking (‘glossophobia’) and features several iconic passages from Churchill’s speeches, including his immortal ‘Never Give In’ address to Harrow School of October 1941.
