Here Churchill reports to ‘the Sirdar’ (Sir Herbert Kitchener) saying ‘Dervish army, strength unchanged’, telling him that there aren’t any hostile forces within three miles of the camp. Churchill was one of the first mounted scouts to see the advancing Dervish army.
