H. R. McMaster Announced as Keynote Speaker

The International Churchill Society (ICS) is pleased to announce that retired US Army general and former National Security Adviser H. R. McMaster will deliver the keynote address at this year’s International Churchill Conference, which will take place in Washington, D.C. next October 9–11. Upon graduation from the United States Military Academy in 1984, McMaster served as a commissioned officer in the United States Army for thirty-four years. He retired as a Lieutenant General in June 2018 after serving as the 25th assistant to the president for National Security Affairs. He holds a Ph.D. in military history from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

McMaster is currently the Fouad and Michelle Ajami Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution, Stanford University and also the Bernard and Susan Liautaud Fellow at the Freeman Spogli Institute and a lecturer at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business. Additionally, McMaster hosts Battlegrounds: Vital Perspectives on Today’s Challenges and is a regular on GoodFellows, both produced by the Hoover Institution.

McMaster as our Keynote Speaker,” ICS Executive Director Adam Howard said in making the announcement. “He embodies the concept of applied history and has exemplified how we can use the legacy of Winston Churchill as a starting point for meeting the challenges of today’s world.
