Location: The Churchill Bar, Hyatt Regency, 30 Portman Square, London
On the evening of Monday 8th February 2016, The International Churchill Society (UK) will hold a reception at the Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill Hotel. Taking place in the intimate surroundings of The Churchill Bar, there will be a Pol Roger champagne reception with mouth-watering canapés. Our guest speaker, Dr. Andrew Roberts, will give a short talk on Churchill and Napoleon and will also have copies of his latest books available.
The Churchill Bar & Terrace has been designed with a young Winston Churchill and his beloved wife Clementine in mind with references to Churchill’s life in photography and art, in love and lifestyle and in travel and animals. The bar’s terrace features a specially commissioned life-size bronze of a young Sir Winston Churchill entitled ‘In Conversation’. Cast by renowned sculptor Lawrence Holofcener who also created “Allies”, the much-loved statue of Sir Winston and Franklin D Roosevelt on a bench on Bond Street. An unmissable feature are Jock, Rufus and Pig – the locally knitted animals that can be found on the bookshelves and are used to emulate Churchill’s use of his children’s toys as bookmarkers in his library at Chartwell.
