“Churchill at War” Producer-Director Malcolm Venville Will Present

Early-bird tickets for the 42nd Annual International Churchill Conference, which will be held in Washington, D.C. October 9 to 11, 2025, are currently on sale. Producer and director Malcolm Venville will make a special presentation about his acclaimed Netflix documentary Churchill at War at the US Navy Memorial. Churchill at War uses a combination of historical film and dramatic reenactment to tell the story of Prime Minister Winston Churchill’s leadership during the Second World War. Additionally, modern technology has been used to colorize old images and to reproduce the sound of Churchill’s voice describing some of the action. Venville will be discussing the work that went into creating the series and the decision making behind the use of various media to tell the heroic story. A selection of highlights from the series will be included.

Honoring all those who currently serve or have served in the United States Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and the Merchant Marine, the US Navy Memorial opened in Washington, D. C. in 1987 on the Pennsylvania Avenue National Historic Site. At the opening ceremony, President Ronald Reagan said, “This living memorial is a proud and stirring tribute to the men and women of the United States Navy who have served and will continue to serve the country, in peace and war, with gallantry and devotion.”
