By ROBERT CHURCHILL
This past October my wife and I launched the first ever Churchill Cognac, “Cuvée Winston Churchill.” It celebrates Sir Winston’s affection and appreciation of fine Cognac and the closeness between my wife’s family and the Churchill family. We are happy to say that a portion of the sale of each bottle will go to the Churchill Graves Trust for the upkeep of the graves of Winston Churchill and his family as well those of my own parents, who are buried alongside Sir Winston in St. Martin’s churchyard at Bladon.
My grandfather, the 9th Duke of Marlborough, was Sir Winston’s first cousin and close friend. My grandmother, Consuelo Balsan, and my father Ivor both received the Légion d’Honneur, as did Sir Winston. All shared a special affinity for France, where I now live. Additionally, my wife’s grandfather was the French artist Paul Maze, who was good friends with Winston Churchill and one of his mentors in oil painting.
Churchill served Prunier Cognac during the Potsdam Conference in July 1945 to celebrate the victory of the Allied powers. We are delighted to work with the distinguished Maison Prunier, the oldest family-owned Cognac House, to produce this fitting tribute. To learn more, please CLICK HERE.
