The Place to Find All Things Churchill

The co-hosts for this year’s International Churchill Conference recently discussed the upcoming event with the International Churchill Society’s Executive Director Justin Reash. Chartwell Curator Katherine Carter and The Daughters of Yalta author Catherine Grace Katz discussed their excitement of hosting the conference; the video can be viewed HERE. This year’s conference will be on the theme “Churchill and Freedom” and take place 7–9 October in London. This will be the Society’s first ever “hybrid” conference: combining physical events in London with main sessions that will be streamed online to the world. For details and to register, please CLICK HERE.

The conference will start with an exclusive drinks reception at the RAF Club on the evening of Thursday, 7 October. Members of the Churchill family will be in attendance to welcome delegates to London. The main conference sessions will take place on Friday and Saturday, 8 & 9 October at the London Marriott Hotel, Grosvenor Square, commencing at 1400 (BST)/0900 (EDT)/0600 (PDT). These sessions will be broadcast online. A black-tie (optional) gala dinner will be held on Friday, 8 October, and we will close the conference with a champagne tasting and reception plus buffet dinner on Saturday, 9 October.

Confirmed speakers include Celia Sandys, Candice Millard, Sir David Cannadine, Lord Boateng, Piers Brendon, and James Muller. The keynote address will be delivered by Arnold Schwarzenegger. Other speakers are still to be announced.

For those wishing to attend in person: The organising committee looks forward to welcoming you to London and finally gathering in person. We promise you an exciting time with book signings, an auction, awards, and the chance to mingle with speakers and special guests. Inevitably, the pandemic has affected our offerings and may yet cause further alterations to our plans. As a result, we are hosting a full program at the Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square but one which also leaves time for delegates to engage in their own exploration of the historic sites of London.

All delegates attending in person are responsible for making their own travel arrangements and booking accommodation. Discounted accommodation can be booked at the London Marriott Grosvenor Square by quoting this reference.
