Keeping with the theme of the current issue of Finest Hour, “Churchill’s Monarchs,” this month’s article features a wartime patriotic advertising plaque. This piece is made of celluloid and paper much like a badge and features Prime Minister Winston Churchill standing with King George VI and Queen Elizabeth.
The piece measures six by eight inches and was a wartime promotional giveaway from Truscott Brothers, a Canadian oil distributor (not to be confused with a modern day funeral home of the same name). Such advertising pieces are considered rare, since most were either discarded or damaged with the passage of time.
