Announcing the First Special Edition of Finest Hour

Collector’s Issue Will Celebrate the Life of Mary Soames

fh129FH 129fh099FH 99The Churchill Centre will be publishing the first special edition of its flagship publication Finest Hour as a tribute to its late Patron Mary Soames. Editor Richard M. Langworth, who personally knew Mary Soames for thirty years, is preparing the tribute, which will be published in the fall after the publication of the regular summer issue. Mary has appeared on two previous covers: Issue 99 in 1998 and Issue 129 in 2005. But this will be a unique issue for a unique lady.

Tributes to The Lady Soames LG DBE (Mary Churchill) began to be posted by members of The Churchill Centre as soon as the news of her death on 31 May was announced. Langworth is collecting these and encourages anyone who knew or hosted our late Patron at Churchill Centre events to send there remembrances to him at: [email protected].

Langworth measured the task of assessing the vital role Mary performed in preserving her father’s legacy by saying: “To reflect on what she meant to that splendid memory and to us will be work aplenty and that work begins now.”
