This virtual event will explore the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941, and Sir Winston Churchill’s historic visit to the White House in the weeks after the attack. Professors John Maurer and Paul Kennedy will lead the discussion, which will be moderated by ICS Executive Director Justin Reash.

Professor John H. Maurer is the Alfred Thayer Mahan Professor of Sea Power and Grand Strategy and served as the Chair of the Strategy and Policy Department at the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island.

Paul Kennedy, the J. Richardson Dilworth Professor of History, Director of International Security Studies at Yale, and Distinguished Fellow of the Brady-Johnson Program in Grand Strategy, coordinates the ISS programs funded by the Smith Richardson Foundation. He is internationally known for his writings and commentaries on global political, economic, and strategic issues.
